The Restoration

When I bought the house in 2002 it had been abandoned for 20 years and was in a very dilapidated state, the roof was falling in and many of the beams were rotten. Getting to the masia was not easy either as the current road was just a mule track. Before renovation could commence I had to widen it and working in partnership with the local environment agencies to minimise impact, I buried 1km of electricity cable and installed a pump to bring fresh mineral water up from the spring. I have tried to maintain as much of the property as possible in its original form, but some of the southern end was in such poor state that it had to be built again from scratch giving the masia its fusion of new and old.
